Greetings,
It's all a matter of context...
In the never ending search to find words or analogies to help describe good buzzing, I recently hit the jackpot!
'Tis the season of frequent formal parties, and bow ties are a common sight...
When my lips are rolling in well, without tension, and the buzzing embouchure has a flexible, pivoting feel to it, my embouchure FEELS like a bow tie looks. It does not look like a bow tie, but it definitely FEELS like a bow tie looks--center rolled in and sides loose.
These moments are when I have my greatest pitch range in buzzing.
Most students using this image have an immediate improvement in range and clarity in their buzzing.
Let me know how this works for you.
Best,
Catherine
